We use the information we collect to: • Provide, maintain, and improve the Makoko platform and its AI features. • Process and fulfill business operations you conduct through the platform. • Train and improve AI agent capabilities, using anonymized and aggregated operational patterns only. • Send transactional communications such as order confirmations, invoice notifications, and system alerts. • Provide customer support and respond to your inquiries. • Monitor platform security, detect fraud, and ensure compliance with our terms. • Comply with legal obligations applicable to our operations across African jurisdictions.

Makoko's AI agents and intelligence features process your business data to deliver automated operational services. Specifically: • AI agents access your operational data (orders, inventory, suppliers) to execute tasks you configure. • Company Brain stores and retrieves knowledge entries to provide context to AI agents. • Analytics features aggregate your operational data to generate insights and forecasts. • We do not use your business data to train general AI models shared across customers without your explicit consent. • All AI actions are logged and auditable within your account.

We do not sell your personal information or business data. We may share information with: • Service providers who assist in operating the platform (cloud hosting, email delivery, payment processing) under strict data processing agreements. • WhatsApp/Meta when you use our WhatsApp Business API integration, subject to Meta's data policies. • Legal authorities when required by applicable law, court order, or regulatory requirement. • Successor entities in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with advance notice to you.

We implement enterprise-grade security measures including: • Encryption of data in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). • Access controls with role-based permissions and multi-factor authentication. • Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments. • Incident response procedures with defined notification timelines. We retain your account and business data for as long as your account is active. When you close your account: • Operational data is retained for 30 days to allow recovery, then permanently deleted. • Billing records are retained for 7 years as required by financial regulations. • Audit logs are retained for 2 years for security and compliance purposes. • You may request earlier deletion by contacting privacy@makoko.ai.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: • Access the personal data we hold about you. • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data. • Request deletion of your personal data. • Export your data in a portable format. • Restrict or object to certain processing activities.
